Deep rest, during a hard chapter

A quiet hour alongside your care team.

Recovery is measured in small, exhausting days. The Harmonic Egg® is a private chamber where the only thing on the schedule is lying down. It is not stroke therapy - it is rest, offered alongside the work your care team is already doing.

The Short Answer

How does the Harmonic Egg® fit into a stroke recovery?

It's a place to rest, not a treatment. Some survivors and caregivers use 50-minute Harmonic Egg® sessions at Harmonic Egg Saco (110 Main St, Suite 1210, Saco, Maine) - or $80 remote sessions from home - as a quiet complement to their rehabilitation. It is used alongside, never in place of, physical therapy, speech therapy, medications, and every part of a program directed by a care team.

A personal account from our co-founder

Bill Carey went through a stroke recovery led entirely by his medical team - his physicians, his rehabilitation program, everything you would expect. Alongside that care, remote Harmonic Egg® sessions became part of his routine.

What follows is Bill's own account. It is his personal experience, not a claim that the Egg treated or corrected his stroke - his recovery was medical.

"Three days after purchasing the Harmonic Egg, I had a stroke. At the hospital, in addition to all the doctors, tests, and physical therapy, we received a call from Gail Lynn, the inventor of the Harmonic Egg. She suggested we contact Charles Monroe, an Egg Guardian in Baltimore, and have him do a remote egg session for me. Prior to that session my left hand was unable to form any chords on the guitar in my room. Hours after that remote session I picked up the guitar and managed to form one or two chords. That remote session made me a believer not only in what the Harmonic Egg can do, but also in the validity of remote sessions."
- Bill Carey, co-founder

About the research you may find online

You may see studies on rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) and music-based therapy in post-stroke rehabilitation. Those studies test clinical, therapist-delivered techniques - not the Harmonic Egg®, which is a different device with a different delivery. Their findings may not transfer to what happens in this chamber, and we don't ask you to assume they do.

What we do offer honestly: 50 uninterrupted minutes to lie down. Many guests describe that hour as some of the deepest rest they've had in months.

Important: The Harmonic Egg® is not medical treatment and does not replace a rehabilitation program, medications, or physicians. It is used alongside the hard work of recovery, not as a substitute for any of it.

How survivors and caregivers use the Egg

Guests come from Saco, Biddeford, Portland, and across Southern Maine - and remotely, anywhere in the U.S.

In-studio sessions

We help with access into the chamber and the zero-gravity chair. No stairs required inside the room.

Remote sessions

For guests who cannot travel. The full session runs in the chamber in Saco in the tradition of distance-healing practice, while you rest at home.

Caregiver sessions

Recovery is exhausting for the people supporting a survivor. A quiet hour on your own is part of that work.

Questions & Answers

What survivors ask us.
Can the Harmonic Egg help with stroke recovery?+
Some survivors and caregivers use Harmonic Egg® sessions as a quiet, restful complement to their rehabilitation - 50 uninterrupted minutes to lie down inside a private chamber. It is not a treatment for stroke and it is not a substitute for any part of a medical rehabilitation program.
Does it replace physical therapy or medical rehab?+
No. The Harmonic Egg® is a relaxation experience used alongside - never instead of - physical therapy, speech therapy, medications, and every part of a rehabilitation program directed by a care team.
What is Bill's story?+
Our co-founder Bill Carey went through a stroke recovery led entirely by his medical team. During that time he made remote Harmonic Egg® sessions part of his routine and says they helped him feel calm and rested. He eventually picked his guitar back up. The experience moved him to co-found this studio - not because the Egg fixed anything, but because that hour of quiet meant something to him.
Why do people book it during recovery?+
Recovery is exhausting. Many guests describe wanting a place, on their own schedule, where nobody is talking at them, testing them, or asking anything of them - just 50 minutes to lie down. That's what the chamber offers.
Is the studio accessible if I have limited mobility?+
We help with access into the chamber and the zero-gravity chair, and no stairs are required inside the room itself. Call (207) 831-4344 before your first visit so we can plan the smoothest entry from parking.
Can I do sessions remotely if I can't travel?+
Yes. Remote Harmonic Egg® sessions are $80. The chamber runs its full 50-minute session at the studio in Saco while you rest at home.
How soon after a stroke can I start?+
Please ask your physician first. Any complementary practice in an acute recovery window is a medical decision, and we will work in whatever way your care team recommends.
Should caregivers book sessions too?+
Yes. Recovery is exhausting for the people supporting a survivor, too. Guests often book sessions for that reason alone.
How many sessions do survivors typically book?+
It varies by person. Some do one session at a time; others build with a 3, 6, or 9-session package because rest lands easier when it's already on the calendar.
What happens during a session?+
You recline in a zero-gravity chair inside the Egg for 40 minutes of soft light, color, and sound. Afterward there is roughly 10 minutes of quiet and a restoring electrolyte drink.
Is it safe after a stroke?+
The session involves no medication, no touch, and no physical exertion. As with any complementary practice during recovery, please clear it with your care team - especially in the acute window.
How much does it cost?+
In-studio sessions are $100 ($125 first visit with intake); packages are $270 for 3, $510 for 6, and $720 for 9. Remote sessions are $80.

Rest, as its own thing.
